Comment on Illegals

I read the blog that was posted here on Conflicts of Texas's site. I think it was a wonderful blog about how illegals should be required to get drivers licences, pay insurance and so on. It makes more sense to do this because then the people who are legit with all their paperwork and stuff don't get screwed when they get involved in a wreck with an illegal. They are the ones that cause a lot of problems for people who have all their required things done when driving. If I were to get into a wreck with an illegal and then realize that they have no way to pay..no id..nothing..then I would be very mad because I would be responsible for all the things that come with it. I want illegals to have to pay fines and fees to drive and be insured because it is only fair. Like this person said in their blog..it is unfair and should be necessary for everyone behind the wheel to be responsible for their actions while driving. If illegals are going to be here..then they should be required to get insurance, registration and licenses. It is so crazy that we have so many people driving who are not supposed to be and it causes a serious problem for others. When one person fails to uphold their end of the deal then we all become affected. It is so much easier to just allow the illegals to get licenses and registration. It can only help benefit everyone because then the people involved who are legal drivers are not stuck out when they are involved in an accident with another person. Hopefully this will happen one day. It would really benefit the whole world..illegals would be held responsible for their actions and legal drivers will be given what they deserve when something happens. I think it would make the whole world better if illegals were able to get the required documentation to drive. Wrecks happen all the time and if illegals were held responsible for their part of the accidents..then the other party would be better off not being stuck out. I think this would benefit everyone in a good way and I agree with everything that this blogger has to say about this situation.

Renew Our Economy with Energy Efficiency

The website that I went to was very interesting. It had many ways to introduce more efficient energy sources in order to better our economy. There is a large group of around ninety elected officials that are working to get the Texas legislature to renew Texas' leadership as the energy capitol of the world. The Director of Environment Texas, Luke Metzger, says that our economy is only being worsened by all the unstable energy prices. We have so many resources here in Texas that would allow us to be much more efficient than we are.
The new pan is labeled, "Renew Texas," and has many elements that will work together in order to help stabilize our economy and the rest of the worlds if the plan goes correctly. The parts of the plan go as follows:
To add 4000 megawatts of Solar Power by 2020
To require the reduction of utilities by 1% in 2015 and 2% by 2020
Increase efficiency standards of new homes by 15% every 3 years by improving building codes
Use low-cost loans to improve schools, universities and local government buildings
Require certain appliances to meet minimum efficiency standards
If this plan were to work the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy says that an estimates 5 billion would be saved by consumers over the next 15 years. The University of Texas has even brought to light the fact that a major investment in solar power could create 123,000 jobs in this field by 2020. Mark Strama, Texas State Rep, said that wind power already has created more jobs and put more money back in the consumers pockets, so we should continue. There are so many supporters and no reason not to go for this. There is so much to gain in this proposition. I just hope that everyone supports it and works towards implementing this into our energy program. Even President Obama has pledged to spend 150 billion over the next ten years on clean energy. If the president believes in this plan so should we. I think it is a wonderful thing and would be great to put to action. Sure it will take a lot of money and a lot of time...but we will get there. How can we just leave the wind, sun and crops untapped when they are such an abundant source of energy that is just sitting there waiting to be used.

The cow speaks no bull!

I totally agree with that this person is saying. There is no reason that the teachers who work harder and have more successful students receive the same pay increase as the ones who just pass them all. Our schools need to be given money for good grades and progress being made in that school or their classroom. We shouldn't be giving school administrators money that just ends up in their pocket like person is saying. People work hard to get where they are and most really love teaching. I know that it is hard to keep all the kids in line and on task..I was one who was hard to control!! but anyways..I really liked what you were talking about and totally respect it. Teachers should be payed by their performance..each should be individually looked at and given respectable raises. Not every teacher is in it for the kids...and that is not someone I would want to give money to. Our kids are our future..and their teachers are a major part of their future. Hopefully one day we can turn it all around and do as this blogger was talking about. Better grades and performance in a classroom means a better pay increase. I think this would help those who are already suffering and possibly get those who don't really care on track. People will always try to win it the easy way..there is no way around that..but hopefully we can get caring and determined teachers into the spotlight one say and keep them from going bankrupt at the same time!

Our New President

Well I don't really know what to say about all this. We have our first black president..Mr. Obama. There are so many things going through my mind that I don't even know how to explain what I feel like. It's very weird to me. I wasn't really for either side in the election. I voted for McCain..but that doesn't mean that I liked him either. I decided to pick the lesser of two evils in my opinion. There is just something about Obama that I really do not like..I can't put my finger on it though. Every time I see him I just get this feeling that he is not going to help us any being in office. I feel like he will be our demise. I don't know why...again it's just a feeling I get from him and his fakeness. I read an interesting story that Shane Nassiri from Texas tech wrote in their newspaper there. It was interesting to me and I think his story was truthful and hopefully Obama does choose to do the right thing. Hopefully he will choose to take the road less traveled as Nassiri said. This is a link to the story. You should just read it..there are a lot of things that I think Obama should consider. Things that America needs and wants. This world is not faring so well economy wise and hopefully he can pull us out of this. I have my doubts but hopefully he will turn out to be a good president. We don't need another BUSH!! There are so many things going wrong with the world right now and hopefully Obama will bring us out of this funk that we are stuck in. We need to get out of this damn war and we need to focus on bringing our economy back up. Prices continue to increase..even though gas went down YEAH!! But average things are getting more and more expensive. In Texas especially we need to get some help for all the people displaced from hurricane Ike. They are still out there with no home and a dark future. People need help and we need to offer more and help our citizens. After all we are the ones who will continue to grow and pass on our seeds...so why not make life for the next generation easier instead of harder?

Prison Smuggling

There are many things that are smuggled in and out of prisons by guards. I never knew the extent of this until I met my now boyfriend of three and a half years. He was in prison a long time ago and has seen first hand these actions in progress. Many inmates receive cell phones and other things from guards. They either pay them somehow inside the prison or have outside sources that do it for them. Regardless...I know that it happens. My boyfriend has a cousin who was recently in prison on some minor charges and she somehow got a cellphone inside the prison. The truth is obvious..guards are out to make deals with prisoners to get that extra cash. The blog that I am talking about is Grits for Breakfast. The article on here talks about how the smuggling has caused guards to be searched upon entry and exit of the facility. The blogger talks about how this is a problem that is in many prisons and I agree with that. The blogger has evidence from the Houston and Austin papers that tell the story of contraband being brought into prisons. The blogger gives good evidence supporting how contraband is brought in and out of prisons everywhere. I never knew how big the problem was. It happens everywhere and is going to be a hard thing to solve. There will always be guards who are more interested in making deals with prisoners in order to benefit themselves. It is going to be a very hard task to eliminate contraband from being smuggled into prisons. The blogger is trying to let us know what is going on in prisons..and some of us already are aware of this smuggling. Others who are not are being taken back by the ability of inmates to get what they want. I understand how bad it is that this happens..but what else can we do but search every person who enters and leaves. The problem will still exist...inmates will continue to find loopholes in the system that allow them to get what they want.

KXAN Problems

I think that this article is great...I am so confused with all the KXAN stuff going on right now. When I saw the banner at the bottom of the screen saying that KXAN will no longer be available I was thinking, "What the hell?" That's just honesty! My boyfriend is a dedicated fan of Jerry Springer. It used to come on at night and he would always watch it or record it. There are other channels that show it..but this was the channel he was used to watching it on!! I never really understood what was going on. The article really cleared the air for me. The TV used to show how they were trying to charge us for a free signal..but that's not it. If you read the article...you will see how the author is talking to Time Warner customers mainly, and also telling it how it really is. I understand and agree with what the author is saying. Time Warner is making it seem as though KXAN is charging for a free signal when they are not. Time Warner just doesn't want to pay for their copyright to show their program. It is all just a big mess and each are to blame. I agree with what the author is saying about how Time Warner is lying to their viewers to keep them. I think that they have a lot of evidence against Time Warner for trying lie to viewers and much more. I just hope that all this is resolved in good faith as the law requires!

UT Aesthetics ????

There is an amazingly stupid fight going on at UT right now if you ask me! The whole thing about how pretty the dorm room doors and windows look mean nothing to me...but the fight for our president is something that matters. We should all be able to show our support or non-support for whomever we choose. It is ridiculous how the campus is acting..threatening to expel these students who do not take down the signs! I think the article is worth looking at definitely. The link to Burnt Orange Report is at the bottom of my page..so take a look!
